Chapter 1: The Splash That Changed Everything
🎨 Picture Idea: Annabelle falling into magical underwater world with glowing blue legs, surrounded by colorful mermaids and a beautiful coral castle in the background
Annabelle was perfect. Smart. Neat. Always right. But there was one thing she never did: go in the water.
When her mom planned a beach day, Annabelle chose the sand. "My bathing suit's too small," she said. She sat near the deeper part of the ocean with her bunny, Hopper—until Hopper kept nudging her forward.

She could still breathe. Swirls of color spun around her; her legs glowed light blue—the same as her skirt. When the spinning stopped, she was at the bottom of the ocean, surrounded by underwater people with colored legs matching their clothes.
A trumpet sounded: "Make way for the Queen of the Mermaids!"
The Queen explained: mermaids don't have tails—merfish do. Merfish are cruel and jealous. Annabelle and even Hopper were special: some humans and animals can breathe underwater. The Queen brought her to the coral castle and showed a picture of the murrefish—ugly, menacing creatures who wanted mermaid magic to destroy the earth.
But first, the Queen said, enjoy the city. No time would pass above. She sent Annabelle crystal-bubble picking with the maids.
At a great crystal wall, bubbles glowed like apple-sized moons. As Annabelle began carefully picking, a girl bumped into her.

Chapter 2: The Bubble Wall
🎨 Picture Idea: Crystal bubble wall with glowing moon-like bubbles, young mermaids picking bubbles, and a dramatic scene of Queen Nerissa with red gown and coral crown emerging from a dark portal
A beautiful mermaid swept down. Golden curls, blue eyes, a pearl-trim basket. "Move aside," she snapped. "I'm Rachel—the best bubble-picker. No one beats me, especially not clumsy Mari."
Another girl appeared with straight red hair and gentle brown eyes. "Hello, Reena," Rachel said sweetly. Mari whispered, "Reena is nice inside, but she follows Rachel so she won't get bullied."
